A common methodological framework

The European Credit system for Vocational Education And Training (ECVET) focuses on implementing an EU-wide credit recognition system for VET.
It aims to give people greater control over their individual learning experiences and makes it more attractive to move between different countries and different learning environments.

The ECVET Recommendation

The ECVET Recommendation was adopted on 18 June 2009 and calls for gradual application within all European countries as of 2012. This system promotes the implementation of European networks and puts forth the following methods: 

  • Description of qualifications in terms of units of learning outcomes, highlighting knowledge, skills and competences. These units are allocated with credit points.
  • Systems for transfer and recognition of learning outcomes abroad.
  • Practical tools to facilitate implementation, such as the 'Memorandum of Understanding', the 'Learning Agreement' and the 'Personal transcript'.

NETINVET stands among the precursors of these networks. It tests the principles inherent in the ECVET Recommendation, and provides competent national authorities with an experimental framework for its implementation.
